The app is free to try for 30 days – after that, you'll need a subscription to continue using all features. For the best experience, we recommend our specially optimized devices.
Yes, the clearTime Assistant has a built-in front camera for video calls. The camera is specially optimized for good image quality even in low light.
The speakers are specially optimized for clear voice transmission and can be set very loud. Good communication is possible even with hearing impairment. The volume can be adjusted at any time.
Yes, with a standard tablet wall mount, the clearTime Assistant can also be attached to the wall. This way you always have it in view, e.g., in the kitchen or hallway.
During a power outage, the tablet continues to run on its built-in battery. Depending on the battery level, it can operate for several hours without power. You'll also receive a notification on your phone when the device is disconnected from power.
Currently, the clearTime Assistant works via WiFi. If you want to use it on the go, you can use a mobile WiFi hotspot. An integrated mobile version is planned for the future.

Yes! Once the device is connected to WiFi, you as a family member can make almost all settings, create contacts, and add appointments via the app.
During initial setup, you'll automatically be asked for your WiFi. Select your network from the list and enter the WiFi password. If you don't know the password, you can usually find it on a sticker on your router.

WiFi & Internet
Yes, for most features a WiFi connection is required. Video calls, synchronization, weather display, and photos need internet. Some basic features like the calendar also work offline, but won't sync.
For most features, 2 Mbit/s is enough. For video calls in good quality, we recommend 5-10 Mbit/s. This corresponds to most normal DSL connections.
Yes! When you're on the go, clearTime can also work via a mobile WiFi hotspot or smartphone tethering. But watch your data volume.
If there are connection problems, clearTime shows a message. Offline data (calendar, contacts) remains available. Once the connection is back, all changes are automatically synchronized.
Yes! Go to Settings → WiFi and select a different network. Practical when you take the device to a different apartment.
In the settings, you can see the current connection quality:
Excellent - All features available
Good - Video calls possible
Medium - Limited video quality

On some devices, yes! If your clearTime has a USB-C port, you can connect a LAN adapter. This can make the connection more stable.
In normal operation (synchronization, weather), very little. Video calls use about 300-500 MB per hour. With unlimited WiFi at home, this isn't a problem.

The clearTime Assistant has a special unlock system: Tap the four corners of the screen one after another in a set order. Optionally, a PIN code may also be required. This prevents unauthorized users from changing settings.
Only you and the family members you've granted access to. Administrators have full access, members have limited access. You decide who can see and change what.
No, you always see who's calling. Even with automatic call answering, you still see who's calling. You can disable automatic answering at any time or limit it to certain contacts.
LIVE access allows administrators to see the Assistant's screen in real time and help if needed. This is to help older people with operation. LIVE can only be used with consent and should not be misused for surveillance.
Yes! Video calls are encrypted and not recorded. Nobody except the participants can listen in or watch.

No! All updates are free. We continuously improve clearTime with new features and bug fixes - at no additional cost to you.
Updates can be delayed, but we recommend installing them promptly. They contain important security improvements and bug fixes.
No! Your data remains fully intact during updates. It's stored in the cloud and is immediately available after the update.
